Calendar

by withbuddi · @withbuddi/plugin-calendar · Apache-2.0

Your calendars, from a private link or an app password, both kept like passwords, so your team know what today holds and when you are free, and, in the calendars you allow, add, move and cancel events, each one a card you approve first.

Calendar in buddi, on its own page in the dashboard

What it reaches in buddi

  • It sends web requests.
  • It fills secrets you bind to it.

What leaves your machine

  • calendar.google.com: Google calendars: buddi reads the secret iCal address you linked. Nothing is sent.
  • *.icloud.com: iCloud calendars: buddi reads the calendars you linked, and writes the events you approve.
  • caldav.fastmail.com: Fastmail calendars: buddi reads the calendars you linked, and writes the events you approve.
  • outlook.office365.com: Outlook calendars (work or school): buddi reads the published ICS link. Nothing is sent.
  • outlook.live.com: Outlook calendars (personal): buddi reads the published ICS link. Nothing is sent.

Its tools

Run without asking 4

  • calendar.todayToday's events from the owner's linked calendars, in their time: all-day events first, then each meeting with its start and end. Use it for the morning brief and whenever the owner asks what today holds.
  • calendar.upcomingThe owner's events for the coming days, today included, grouped by day in their time. Use it to plan the week or answer "what do I have on Thursday".
  • calendar.findSearch the owner's calendars for events whose title, place or notes contain the words, from 30 days ago to 180 days ahead unless given dates. Use it for "when is the dentist" or "when did I last see Sam".
  • calendar.freeThe owner's free time on one day, between 09:00 and 18:00 unless told otherwise, from the meetings in their calendars (all-day events and ones marked free do not count). Use it before proposing a time.

Stop and ask you first 3

  • calendar.create_eventAdd an event to one of the owner’s calendars that allows changes (an iCloud, Fastmail or CalDAV calendar the owner allowed on Settings → Calendar; a private-link calendar is read-only). The owner approves it on a card first. Times are the owner’s unless a timezone is given; an end or a duration in minutes (an hour when neither). Limits: no attendees and no invitations — the event is the owner’s alone; no repeating events.
  • calendar.update_eventChange an event in a calendar the owner allows changes on: its title, start, end or duration, all-day, place or notes — give only what changes. The owner approves it on a card showing before and after. Limits: no attendees and no invitations (an event with invitees is left alone); a repeating event changes as a whole series — its time of day and length, never one occurrence. If the event changed in the calendar since, nothing is written.
  • calendar.cancel_eventCancel (delete) an event in a calendar the owner allows changes on. The owner approves it on a card first. Limits: an event with invitees is left alone (no cancellations are sent); a repeating event is cancelled only as a whole series, and only when the call says series: true — never one occurrence. If the event changed in the calendar since, nothing is deleted.

Only you, from its own pages 7

  • calendar.addLink a calendar by its private ICS address. The owner's own.
  • calendar.removeRemove a calendar linked by its private link, and forget the link. The owner's own.
  • calendar.link_accountSign in to a CalDAV account with an app password and link its calendars. The owner’s own.
  • calendar.link_calendarLink or unlink one calendar of a signed-in account. The owner’s own.
  • calendar.allow_changesLet agents add and change events in one linked account calendar, or make it read-only again. The owner’s own.
  • calendar.find_againLook for new, renamed or removed calendars in a signed-in account. The owner’s own.
  • calendar.sign_outForget a CalDAV account: its password and its calendars here. The owner’s own.

What it stores

Its own Postgres schema, calendar, inside buddi's private database. Removing the plugin keeps it unless you also drop its data.
